Casey is a New York-based arts and entertainment journalist with a passion for sci-fi, fairy tales, and nerdy things.
Casey Cipriani was born and raised in the Overbrook section of West Philadelphia. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Theater and Cinema Studies from Northeastern University in Boston. She then moved to New York where she spent 5 years acting in theater, film, and television. While acting, Casey began blogging about entertainment and started a blog devoted to the television show "Lost." She continued blogging by starting "Critic Behind the Curtain," an all-encompassing blog focused on film, TV, music, and the arts. After a few years of pretending she hadn't quit acting, Casey got a Master's Degree from the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism where she concentrated in Arts & Culture. She interned at the New York Daily News and Indiewire, where she became Assistant Editor after graduation. Now Casey is the News Editor for Women and Hollywood and Film Features Writer at Bustle. She continues to write for Indiewire, and has bylines at Criticwire, Vulture, The New York Times, New York Daily News, Filmmaker Magazine, Salon, Slate, Movie Mezzanine, Refinery 29, and Screen Rant. She conducts interviews, reviews film and television, writes essays and covers film festivals around the world. Casey is also an avid photographer, a self-described travel addict, and an elephant enthusiast. She loves all things "Star Trek," "X-Files," and Disney. She loved and will defend the finale of "Lost" until the end of time. |
